Trenton Tape Products

The Trenton Wax-Tape® Products have been successfully used for corrosion prevention of gas and oil lines, water lines, valves, joints, refinery piping, industrial facilities and other similar applications.

Trenton Wax-Tape® System is an effective, long-lasting anti-corrosion system used for application on above-ground and below-ground pipe, irregular fittings, bridge spans, transitions, etc. A complete protection system includes a selection of Primers, Wax-Tapes and Outerwraps that work together to protect the structure.

The Trenton Wax-Tapes are composed of micro-crystalline waxes, plasticizers and corrosion inhibitors, (no clay fillers), which are saturated into a non-woven, non-stitch, bonded synthetic fabric forming a tape wrapper. Trenton Wax-Tapes have outstanding waterproofing and wetting characteristics and are an excellent dielectric barrier. The Wax Tapes are non-toxic and contain no siliceous mineral fillers. In addition, they are environmentally safe and compatible with other coatings.

Trenton primers are required in order to create an effective anti-corrosion system. The primers penetrate surface rust in preparation for the application of the Wax-Tapes, which means that field applicators only need to use a wire brush to prepare the surface.

Trenton Wax-Tapes are often used with no outerwrap, but more mechanical protection against soil stress and backfill is sometimes required. A range of outerwraps are offered to meet the needs of each situation. The MC Outerwrap in particular provides a very hard coating, which is used in above-ground or below-ground applications as a mechanical protective wrapper over Trenton Wax-Tapes.

Trenton #1 Wax-Tape resists corrosion on below-ground pipe, including wet and irregular surfaces. It requires no waiting or drying time, can be backfilled immediately and is compatible with cathodic protection. Trenton #1 Wax-Tape is user friendly, contains no VOC's, is non-toxic, non-hazardous and non-carcinogenic. It provides excellent protection for a variety of applications, including couplings, valves, fittings, weld cutbacks and cadwelds.

The application procedure begins with first applying the Wax-Tape Primer as a surface conditioner. It “wets” the surface, fills the metal pores, penetrates and inhibits existing rust and displaces moisture. After the primer has been applied the #1 Wax-Tape is wrapped and pressed onto the structure. It is a highly conformable product and can be worked into the crevices and contours of irregular surfaces.

Trenton #2 Wax-Tape resists corrosion on above-ground pipe, bridge crossings, vaults, and other straight or irregular surfaces. It is easy to apply, requires no special equipment, is compatible with most coatings, and requires only minimal surface preparation. Not only is the #2 Wax-Tape non-toxic and non-carcinogenic, but a composition of inert, non-biodegradable materials leaves it essentially unaffected by the elements.

Wax-Tape Primer is required prior to the application of the tape and is particularly useful for surfaces that are cold, wet or rusty. It acts as a surface conditioner by filling and sealing the pores of the metal, penetrating any rust and displacing moisture. The #2 Wax-Tape is then applied, creating a barrier that locks out any further oxidation.
